Inspired by international best practice, let's take a look back at an initiative of which the Quebec City region can be proud. The Communauté Montagnes et Nature is the embodiment of local change, mobilizing local forces for more responsible tourism. This talk takes stock of what's been achieved, while paving the way for what's to come.
Who is Véronique Desmarais
With over 20 years' experience in sustainable development, Véronique Desmarais is committed to accelerating the adoption of responsible, sustainable behaviours and practices in Quebec. In the course of her career, she has contributed to a number of groundbreaking initiatives in collective mobilization and social innovation. In particular, she has contributed to the development, implementation and evaluation of several financial assistance programs and support measures designed to promote the integration of sustainable development in organizations, businesses and various sectors of activity in Quebec. Véronique holds a master's degree in forestry science with a focus on sustainable nature tourism, and worked as a sustainable tourism consultant before becoming Director, Impact and Behaviour Change at the Fonds d'action québécois pour le développement durable (FAQDD). She now works as Director of the Sustainable Destination Development section at Destination Québec cité, helping to develop the Québec City region's tourism offering, while facilitating the destination's responsible and sustainable shift. Establishing healthy professional relationships is important to her, and she manages her mandates with a particular interest in the needs and realities of her stakeholders.
Who is Julien Bergeron
With over 15 years' experience in event management in Quebec City, particularly in marketing, partnerships and sponsorships, as well as in eco-responsible practices, I decided to put my expertise at the service of sustainable development. By joining MT Lab's Pôle d'innovation en tourisme durable, I'm committed to mobilizing the Quebec tourism industry to foster the emergence of innovative, responsible solutions for a more sustainable future for tourism.
