This talk explores how innovative companies like True North Marine and BrainBox AI have leveraged their in-house expertise and strategic data to position themselves as leaders thanks to academic talent and collaborations. Through inspiring case studies, we will illustrate how partnerships with academic institutions can propel innovative, effective and sustainable AI solutions. The aim is also to show how companies, depending on their AI maturity, can initiate or strengthen collaborations with academia to maximize their impact while addressing AI-related environmental challenges.
Who is Nancy Laramée
With over 20 years' experience in data enhancement, continuous improvement and innovation, Nancy Laramée is Director of Partnerships at IVADO, a leading artificial intelligence institute in Canada. She holds a bachelor's degree in industrial engineering, a master's degree in engineering management.Since October 2018, Ms. Laramée has led a team of 13 experts who develop and manage collaborative research initiatives with academic and strategic partners in various sectors such as healthcare, transportation, finance, and energy. His team has succeeded in increasing the value of collaborative projects from $10 million to over $117 million, and growing the number of partners from 43 to over 100 in less than three years. Her team has set up more than 772 applied research projects, which corresponds to 2 new projects every week, and she and her multidisciplinary team devote themselves daily to developing innovative R&D initiatives that make a real difference to organizations, while advancing the next generation of researchers and academics. Since joining IVADO, she has supported organizations such as Hydro-Québec, Ericsson and innovative SMEs such as Brainbox AI. Passionate about creating value for her partners and transferring knowledge and technology, Ms Laramée draws on her skills in problem solving, data analysis and strategic leadership to drive innovation and excellence.
